A Letter to God
Sending money and writing letters
Fill a money order form, take notes from a letter and design a poster.
Sending money by post. A money order lets you send money through the post office. Words to know:
- counter: where you are served;
- counter clerk: the person who serves you;
- payee: the person who receives the money;
- acknowledgement: the part that comes back to you;
- counterfoil: the part the post office keeps.
Parts of the form.
- the payee's name and address, and the sender's signature;
- an official part for the post office;
- the acknowledgement, with the sender's address. The payee signs it, and it is posted back to the sender;
- a small space for a message.
A friendly letter. The writer's address and date come first. Then a greeting ('Dear Arti'), the message, and a warm closing ('Love, Jaya'). In Jaya's letter she says sorry for not writing, gives her new address, tells news of Sarah's school and remembers Bangalore.
A good poster. A short slogan, one clear picture and a few practical points. On saving water: 'Every drop counts', and three things anyone can do at home.
