Work, Livelihood and Career

Attitude, quality of work life and life skills

Make work life healthier.

Job satisfaction depends a lot on attitude. Unfair comparisons with others breed dissatisfaction; seeing work as a source of energy, fulfilment and learning brings satisfaction. It does not depend only on salary.

The quality of work life (QWL) approach treats employees as assets, not costs. It looks at pay, satisfaction, good relationships, low stress, participation in decisions, and a balance between work and home.

A healthy work environment is built by: attending to employees' needs, fairness, motivation, safety, interesting work, matching the person to the task, delegation, team spirit, training, praise and empowerment.

Life skills (WHO: thinking, coping and social skills) help people meet the demands of everyday life. The ten core life skills: self-awareness, empathy, communication, interpersonal relationships, decision making, problem solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, coping with emotions and coping with stress. They are learned through experience, not in a classroom.

To improve your own work life: healthy habits, empathy, teamwork and loyalty, being responsive rather than reactive, flexibility, good citizenship, and learning from life's lessons. Healthy people make healthy workplaces.

Healthy people, healthy workplaces.
