The IT Act and our health

Set up a healthy way of using devices.

The IT Act. India's Information Technology Act, 2000 (amended in 2008) gives guidelines on processing, storing and transmitting sensitive information. It gives legal recognition to electronic records and digital signatures, and defines cyber crimes and their penalties. Cyber cells in police stations take complaints.

A digital signature is a unique digital ID, issued by a licensed Certifying Authority. It authenticates the person who signs an electronic document.

Our health. Too much screen time, with poor posture, harms both body and mind, and can become addictive. Ergonomics is the science of designing workplaces, furniture and equipment so that they are safe and comfortable to use.

  • Eye strain from screen glare: keep the right viewing distance and angle, look at distant objects from time to time, and take outdoor breaks.
  • Bad posture causes backache and neck pain; overusing keyboards hurts wrists and fingers.
  • Stress, fatigue and obesity also follow excessive use. Balance devices with sports, hobbies and real friendships.

Look after your devices too: keep them clean, cool, and away from food and drink. Good law, good posture, good balance.

Good law, good posture, good balance.
