India and its neighbours

Name India's neighbours and explain its maritime location.

India lies in south-central Asia, at the head of the Indian Ocean, with the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

Land neighbours: Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar.

Island neighbours: Sri Lanka (across the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Strait) and the Maldives.

The maritime location links India by sea and air to its region.
