Interviews and notices

Tell formal language from informal, and write a notice.

Informal interview (with a classmate, like the Sports Captain): friendly language. 'Hello! I'm so glad you agreed to meet me.' 'Tell me about yourself.'

Formal interview (with an adult, like the Coach): polite and indirect. 'Good morning, it is my privilege to have this interaction with you.' 'Could you share how your journey began?' Use could, would and may.

A notice gives information to a group: an event, a competition, a lost or found item.

Notice format:

  • name of the organisation;
  • the word NOTICE;
  • the date;
  • a heading;
  • the details: what, when, where, who, how to register;
  • signature, name and designation.

Keep it within 50 words and inside a box.

Formal: polite and indirect. Notice: short, boxed, complete.
