Living Together

Places in a locality

Walk around Chandan's village and find the places people share.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 1), Chandan shows us around his village. Near his house there is a big playground, where he plays kabaddi with his friends after school. At the corner of the playground stands a big banyan tree, where the elders gather to talk.

The people and places in a locality are connected to each other. A shopkeeper sells the things we need every day, like food items and clothes, and also sells local products made nearby. A road connects people who live in different areas, and it lets goods and services move easily from one place to another.

A health centre gives treatment when people are ill. The police keep everyone safe.

Some places are used by everyone. Schools, markets, playgrounds, parks and roads are public places. People use them for playing, relaxing and meeting others, and sometimes they come together to clean and decorate them.

People and places in a locality are connected, and public places like parks, schools, markets, playgrounds and roads are shared by everyone.
