Cows that went to Brazil
Read the story of the Indian cows that went to Brazil.
In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 10), the sixth story is 'The Cows that Went to Brazil!'.
Long ago, Portuguese traders took some Indian cows across the sea to Brazil. These cows were strong, they gave good milk, and they did not mind the weather in Brazil.
Over time, the cows grew in number. Three Indian cow breeds — Gir, Kankrej and Ongole — became very important in Brazil.
They became so important there that their pictures are found even on Brazil's stamps and coins! This story shows that animals, too, travel from one land to another and find a new home.
