Energy — How Things Work
What energy is
Find out what energy is, by looking at things around you.
Look around you. Things move, light up, make sounds, or get warmer or cooler. A fan turns, a bulb glows, a bell rings, food gets cooked on the stove. Something makes all of this happen — we call that energy.
Your book puts it like this: energy is what makes things move, light up, produce sound, do work and change temperature (get hotter or colder). We use energy every day in so many ways, sometimes without even noticing.
As you know, the Sun gives us light and heat. The Sun is the main source of energy for life on Earth.
