Opposites from the poem

Find words with opposite meanings in the poem.

Your book, Poorvi, has the poem 'The Raven and the Fox' on pages 13 and 14. On page 17 you find the opposites of seven words from the poem, using a box of words. Two words in the box are extra and are not needed: 'happy' and 'silly'.

At the start the Raven is perched on a branch; the opposite of perched is flew. The Raven forgot that his voice was just a croak; the opposite of forgot is remembered. His pride was foolish; the opposite of foolish is wise.

Pride is feeling better than others; its opposite is humility, which means not thinking you are better than others. The Fox laughed at the end; the opposite of laughed is cried.

The Fox's lesson is to ignore sweet words that make you glow with pride. The opposite of ignore is notice, and the opposite of glow is dim.

Take care: 'silly' is not the opposite of 'foolish'. It means almost the same thing!

Opposites from the poem: perched-flew, forgot-remembered, foolish-wise, pride-humility, laughed-cried, ignore-notice and glow-dim.
