Rhyming words

Find the rhyming words in the poem.

Open your book, Poorvi, at page 86 and read the poem 'What a Bird Thought' aloud. Listen to the last word of each line. In every stanza, two lines end with words that rhyme: they end with the same sound.

Stanza 1: 'well' and 'shell'. Your book shows this pair and adds a new rhyming word, 'fell'. Stanza 2: 'other' and 'mother'. Stanza 3: 'find' and 'blind'. Stanza 4: 'labours' and 'neighbours'.

Say each pair aloud: well, shell; other, mother; find, blind; labours, neighbours. The ending sounds match. Words that only start the same, like 'leaves' and 'labours', do not rhyme.

Then your book gives a new little stanza about a bird to finish. The first line ends with 'low', and the second line needs a rhyming word that starts with k and means to be sure of something: 'know'. The third line ends with 'rest', and the last line says the bird's little nest is the ___t: the rhyming word is 'best'.

Rhyming words end with the same sound, like 'well' and 'shell' or 'find' and 'blind' at the ends of lines in the poem.
