Parts of a kite
Learn the names of the parts of a kite.
On page 146 of your book, Poorvi, there is a drawing of a kite with the names of its parts. Here they are, in words.
The NOSE is the tip at the very top of the kite. The SPINE is the stick that runs down the middle of the kite, from the nose to the bottom. The COVER is the bright paper or cloth stretched over the frame — the part you see flying. The TAIL is the long strip that hangs from the end of the kite. The Kite line is the string that joins the kite to the person flying it. The REEL is what the kite line is wrapped around, so you can let the line out and wind it back in.
In the conversation on that page, Bina likes the long tail at the end of her kite. Saroj's kite has a bright cover and a black spine. Bina's kite line is wrapped on a reel. And Saroj tells Bina that the tip of a kite is called the nose.
On page 150 your book names some different types of kites: the parafoil, the delta, the rokkaku, the diamond-shaped kite and box kites. Your book asks which one you see most often where you live: talk about it with your class.
