Sentence or question?

Learn the difference between a sentence and a question.

On page 86 of your book, Santoor, you learn the difference between a sentence and a question.

A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense. It begins with a capital letter and usually ends with a full stop. Your book's examples are: Nidhi came running. Only one stone was left to be placed.

A question asks something. It also begins with a capital letter, but it ends with a question mark (?). Your book's examples are: What is your name? Where is Sanjana sitting?

Questions often begin with words like what, where, who, when, why and how. On page 87, you tick whether each line is a sentence or a question. 'My name is Sonam.', 'This flower is beautiful.' and 'My shirt is blue in colour.' tell us something, so they are sentences. 'What is your name?' and 'Where do you stay?' ask something, so they are questions.

A sentence tells something and ends with a full stop; a question asks something and ends with a question mark.
