Madam Rides the Bus

Speaking and writing from experience

Write about a personal experience in three paragraphs.

People talking. The story is full of voices: the joking conductor, the worried elderly man and woman, the chatty mother and aunt. Each speaks in their own way.

Mimic a real conversation. Think of a person like one of them who spoke to you. Copy their words, tone and manner, and give your replies, as Valli did.

Write a page (three paragraphs) on one topic:

  • something you planned on your own, without telling grown-ups;
  • a journey you will never forget;
  • road safety: what worries you (speed, crossings, helmets, seat belts, animals on the road, like the cow) and how to make roads safer.

Three paragraphs. Opening (what and when), middle (what happened, with details and feelings), ending (what it meant to you or what should change).

Talk and write from your own life.
