Project Based Learning
Teamwork and project ideas
Work in a team on a data project.
Most projects are done in teams. Teamwork means people working together on a task, each contributing their skills, like a cricket team, where players bat, bowl and field. Taking a single catch can need the bowler, the fielder and the wicketkeeper working together.
Good teamwork has six components: communicate, listen, share (ideas and expertise), respect, help, and participate. Everyone, not just the leader, takes part in discussions.
The book suggests three projects that use Pandas:
- Project I: APPAREL EASY, an online clothes shop: record its merchandise and sales, apply discount codes (like a festival discount and an end-of-season discount), and draw charts of sales.
- Project II: a book donation camp: record collected books and items, which are refurbished and given out on orders, stored in CSV files, with charts.
- Project III: a survey on social networking and teenagers: collect responses and analyse them with the mean, median and charts.
Projects like these bring together what you have learnt: DataFrames, CSV files, grouping, statistics and plotting. Good teams talk, listen and share.
