The Wild Swans at Coole

Rhyme scheme

Find patterns in poetry.

To mark a rhyme scheme, give each new end sound a new letter, and repeat the letter whenever that sound returns.

Every stanza of this poem has six lines.

In each stanza, the second and fourth lines rhyme, and the last two lines form a rhyming couplet.

So the pattern is ABCBDD, in every stanza.

Some rhymes are half rhymes: close, but not exact (stones / swans, beautiful / pool).

ABCBDD, stanza after stanza.
