Learn the short way to write a date.
Your book, Maths Mela (Chapter 12), shows a short way to write a date: 04/07/2024. This is the DD/MM/YYYY format. DD is the day, MM is the month and YYYY is the year. So 04/07/2024 is the 4th day of the 7th month (July) in 2024. We read it as '4th of July 2024' or 'July 4, 2024'.
In the book, Laali was born on 04/07/2014: 4th of July 2014. Chotu was born on 04/12/2019: 4th of December 2019. Laali was born in 2014, years before Chotu, so Laali is older.
By how much? From 4th July 2014 to 4th July 2019 is 5 years. From 4th July 2019 to 4th December 2019 is 5 more months (August, September, October, November, December). So Laali is 5 years 5 months older than Chotu.
Laali turns 5 years old five years after she was born: on 04/07/2019. Chotu's 10th birthday is ten years after 2019: on 04/12/2029.
