Living Together

Park workers and their tools

Meet the people who look after a park, and the tools they use.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 1), many people help to develop and look after the park. Each worker has a special job, and each job needs its own tool.

A mason mends walls using bricks and cement, and spreads the cement with a small flat tool called a trowel. A carpenter works with wood, and cuts it with a saw.

A gardener looks after plants and flowers, and waters them with a watering can. A sweeper keeps the paths clean with a broom.

An electrician repairs things that work with electricity, like a street light. To hold, bend and cut wires, an electrician uses pliers.

Each park worker has a job and a tool: mason and trowel, carpenter and saw, gardener and watering can, sweeper and broom, electrician and pliers.
