How a letter travels

Ride the bus with Navya and find out how a letter travels.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 2), Navya rides home on a bus with her grandfather, Dada ji. When the bus passes a red postbox, Dada ji tells her how, when he was young, he wrote letters to his brother, who was studying in another city.

This is how a letter travels. First, you drop the letter into a postbox. Then the postman takes it to the post office. The post office sorts the letters by region, and sends each one on to the place where it is going.

The postal service sends letters, parcels and important documents, and post offices offer other services too. In Dada ji's young days, people also sent money through the post office, using a Money Order.

A letter goes into a postbox, the postman takes it to the post office, and the post office sorts it by region and sends it to where it is going.
