Life in water
Discover the special features that help animals live in water.
Animals that live in water have special features that help them survive. Your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 3), names some of them.
Fish have fins to swim. The gharial, a type of crocodile, has a long, narrow, pointed snout to catch fish. Turtles have strong shells to keep them safe, and webbed feet to help them swim easily.
Frogs can live both on land and in water.
Animals in and around water move in different ways: a fish swims, a crab walks and a frog jumps.
Water animals have features that suit their home: fins for fish, a long pointed snout for the gharial, and a strong shell and webbed feet for the turtle.
