Growing up with Nature

Taking from nature, caring for it

Think about how we take from nature and how we can care for it.

We use many things from nature every day. Your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 4), gives examples: we eat fruits, we make clothes from cotton, and we use neem for healthcare.

But if we take too much, nature is harmed. For example, if we use too much wood, our forests disappear.

There are many ways to care for plants and animals around us. We can reduce paper waste, say no to plastic, and spread awareness about saving plants. We can keep food and water for birds, plant trees, and organise a clean-up drive.

In your book, Reena and Amit are amazed by how the people of their village care for nature, and they start thinking about how they, too, can thank nature.

Nature gives us food, clothing and medicine, so we must not overuse it, and we can care for it in many small ways.
