Millets

Learn about millets at Surbhi's food stall.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 5), Surbhi and her friends visit a stall of 'super food' made from millets.

Millets are grains such as jowar, bajra and ragi. They are rich sources of nutrients: the good things in food that our body needs to stay healthy.

Looking at the menu, Surbhi remembers that her grandmother used to eat jowar roti and bajra roti in winter. The children happily order jowar upma, and enjoy healthy millet food.

At the food festival there are many millet foods: jowar upma, ragi laddu, bajre-ki-khichdi, and jowar and bajra roti.

Millets like jowar, bajra and ragi are rich sources of nutrients, and we eat them as upma, laddu, khichdi and roti.
