Different Lands, Different Lives
Four kinds of land
Hear about the children's holidays and the four kinds of land.
In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 9), the children are back at school after the holidays. Their desks are full of colourful pictures and things from the places they visited, and the teacher asks them to share their stories.
Four children tell about four very different kinds of land in India. Gurpreet visited his grandparents' house in Amritsar, in Punjab. Amritsar is in the plains: wide, flat land with big fields. Ritika went to the desert of Rajasthan, a dry land of sand.
Chandni visited a beach in Puri, in Odisha. That is the coast, where the land meets the sea. And Nayan read from his diary about his visit to the mountains of Sikkim.
So India has plains, deserts, coasts and mountains. In this chapter you will visit each of them with one of these children.
