Water — The Essence of Life
Everyone needs water
Find out why every living thing needs water.
In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 1), we learn that all living beings depend on freshwater to survive. People, animals, birds and plants all need it.
People need freshwater for drinking, for growing crops in the fields, and for daily work such as cooking, washing and cleaning. Animals and birds need it to drink. Plants need it to grow.
Many plants and animals also live in freshwater, like the fish, frogs and lotus plants of a pond. This is why so many living beings are found near ponds, lakes and rivers: that is where the water they need is.
Your book says it simply: without water, life would not be possible.
