Journey of a River

Saving water

Imagine a day without water and find ways to save it.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 2), the Godavari asks us to imagine a day without water. How would you drink, cook, bathe or clean? When there is no water for a very long time, families may have to leave their homes and move to places where water is still available. Animals suffer too.

So each one of us can help save water by doing small things every day. Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. Do not waste drinking water. Fix leaking taps with the help of adults. Reuse the clean water left from washing fruits or vegetables to water plants. And remind your family and friends to save water too.

We can also protect rivers by creating less waste, so that less of it ends up in the water.

At the end, the Godavari thanks us for listening. It says that when we save water, plant a tree or stop waste from reaching it, we are showing it love. Every drop counts!

Save water with small daily habits (turn off the tap while brushing, fix leaks with adults, reuse clean water on plants, never waste drinking water) and create less waste, because when water runs out, families may have to leave their homes.
