Friendship words

Before the story 'The Chair', your book, Poorvi, has a word search on page 59. Hidden in it are eight words related to friendship: laughter, helpful, hope, caring, trust, support, loyal and loving. Friends laugh together, help and care for each other, trust and support each other, and stay loyal.

Then the book gives four words that mean 'friend' or 'friends', each with its meaning. A PARTNER is a person with whom you do activities together. BUDDIES is an informal word for friends, the kind of word we use when talking casually.

A COMPANION is a person you spend a lot of time with. CLASSMATES are children who are in the same class as you at school.

You will meet these words in the story. Mario's grandfather says that many of Mario's schoolmates are only companions or partners, not real friends. And when Mario at last sits in mid-air, Guneet, Asma and Deepa, the ones holding him up, are called three of his buddies.
