Compound words
Learn what compound words are.
A compound word is made when two words come together to make one new word or idea. For example, 'grand' and 'mother' make 'grandmother'.
On page 81 of your book, Poorvi, there are nine compound words from 'Neem Baba': something, neem oil, cleanliness-parting, well known, grandmother, seed powder, childhood, well trained and thought-provoking. Your book says there are three kinds, and the difference is in how the two words are separated.
Open compound words have a SPACE between the two words: neem oil, well known, seed powder, well trained.
Closed compound words have NO space: the two words are written together as one. From the list: something, grandmother, childhood.
Hyphenated compound words have a HYPHEN, a short line, between the words: thought-provoking, cleanliness-parting. So to sort a compound word, just look at the middle: a space, nothing, or a hyphen.
