The Swing
Rhyming words
Find the rhyming words in the poem.
Words rhyme when their ends sound the same. We listen to the SOUND, not the spelling.
Read the poem 'The Swing' again, on page 103 of your book, Santoor. On page 107, your teacher reads it aloud and you list the rhyming words. Your book does the first pair: swing and thing.
Here are the other pairs in the poem. Blue rhymes with do. Wall rhymes with all. Wide rhymes with countryside. Brown rhymes with down.
Look at blue and do: they end with different letters, but they sound the same at the end. That is why we listen to the sound. Your book also asks you to add your own words that rhyme with swing, like ring and king. Can you think of more? Sing, wing, bring.
