The Swing
Growing a sentence
Make a short sentence grow longer, one part at a time.
A short sentence can grow longer, one part at a time. On pages 104 and 105 of your book, Santoor, you see how.
Start with: Jeevan waited. Add what he waited for: Jeevan waited for the bus. Add when: Jeevan waited for the bus all morning. Add where: Jeevan waited for the bus all morning in the rain.
Add why: Jeevan waited for the bus all morning in the rain because his scooter was in the garage being repaired. The word 'because' begins the part that gives the reason.
Each new sentence is longer than the one before, and tells us more. You can grow your own sentences the same way. Ask: what? when? where? why?
