A Journey to the Magical Mountains

Mountain words

Learn the mountain words from the story.

The story of Minam has many mountain words. On pages 117 to 119 of your book, Santoor, you use them in sentences, in a crossword, and in a matching game.

The Himalayas are the tallest mountain range in the world. A Sherpa is a guide who helps climbers in the Himalayas; Minam's grandfather was once a Sherpa. A journey is a trip from one place to another. A peak is the pointed top of a mountain.

A valley is low land between mountains. Snow is the white cover on the tops of mountains. A yak is a large, strong mountain animal kept for its milk and wool.

Memories are things we remember and treasure; Minam's day gave her beautiful memories. Magical means wonderful and amazing, like the magical mountains in the story's name.

Mountain words: Himalayas (tallest range), Sherpa (guide), journey (trip), peak (pointed top), valley (low land between mountains), yak (mountain animal for milk and wool).
