Here is what the poem tells, in short. It is about children and the things they love doing. Each child gets a describing word. Anant is an active boy. He plays hockey, even when the ground is rocky. Geeta is a graceful girl. She practises on her skates and learns something from her mistakes every day.

Lhamo is a little boy. He proudly plays the guitar, and a friend joins him with a sitar. Shabana is a swift girl. She wins a cycle race and happily celebrates how fast she went.

Last of all comes the child who is speaking in the poem: musical Meena, who sings in rhythm. The poem ends by saying that there are cheerful children everywhere, and that playing is a joy for every girl and every boy.

The poem tells us what each child loves: Anant plays hockey, Geeta skates, Lhamo plays the guitar, Shabana wins a cycle race and Meena sings in rhythm.
