Papa’s Spectacles

The poem 'Papa's Spectacles'

Read the funny poem 'Papa's Spectacles' and find out what Papa has lost.

Open your book, Santoor, at page 1 and read the poem 'Papa's Spectacles'. Read it aloud, or ask someone at home to read it with you.

Here is what the poem tells, in short. The child who speaks in the poem says that today Papa is searching everywhere. He has lost his spectacles, and they were the only pair he had.

Without his spectacles Papa cannot do his work. He cannot read the newspaper, he cannot watch TV, and he cannot cut the vegetables. So he hunts for them. He checks inside his pockets, he looks under his chair and he searches near the window. He looks everywhere!

At last the child tells Papa to stop, goes up close to him and tells him where the spectacles are: they are right there on his head! Papa was wearing them on top of his head all the time. That is what makes the poem funny.

Papa hunts everywhere for his only pair of spectacles, but they are on his head all the time.
