Smallest to biggest

Put words in order from the smallest to the biggest.

Your book, Santoor, asks you to put words in ascending order. Ascending order means from the smallest or lightest to the biggest or heaviest. The smallest comes first and the biggest comes last.

Numbers first. Fourteen is 14, twenty-nine is 29, forty-seven is 47 and ninety-one is 91. In ascending order they are: Fourteen, Twenty-nine, Forty-seven, Ninety-one.

Fruits next. A cherry is tiny, a strawberry is a little bigger, an apple is bigger still, and a watermelon is so big you need both hands to carry it. In ascending order: Cherry, Strawberry, Apple, Watermelon.

Now animals. A squirrel is small, a rabbit is bigger, an ox is much bigger, and an elephant is the biggest of all. In ascending order: Squirrel, Rabbit, Ox, Elephant.

If you write a group the other way round, biggest first, that is called descending order. Watermelon, Apple, Strawberry, Cherry is descending, not ascending.

Ascending order goes from the smallest or lightest first to the biggest or heaviest last.
