'ai' words

The word 'scooter' has 'oo' in the middle. On page 22 of your book, Santoor, you find ten words that have 'ai' in the middle. The first one is done for you: chair, something with four legs that you sit on.

Here are the others. Water that falls from the clouds is rain. A vehicle that runs on tracks is a train. You colour a wall or a picture with paint. The part of your body that helps you think is your brain.

A slow creature that carries a shell on its back is a snail. Letters and packets that you send or receive are mail. Boats sail on the water. Animals have tails, long or short. And the steps that take you from one floor to another are the stairs.

In all these words, the letters a and i sit together and make one sound, like the 'ai' in rain.
