The Rainbow

Rhyming words

Find the rhyming words in the poem.

Words rhyme when their ending sounds are the same. In the poem 'The Rainbow', 'seas' rhymes with 'these', and 'trees' rhymes with 'please'.

Your book, Santoor, says to listen to the SOUND, not the spelling. 'Seas' and 'these' end in the same sound, even though they are spelt differently.

On page 30 you find rhymes for words from the poem. For 'ship' the book gives chip and trip. Here are some more. Tree: see, free, bee. Bow: low, go, snow. Rain: train, pain, chain. Sun: fun, run, bun.

Sea: tea, key, free. Sail: tail, mail, nail. Sky: fly, high, my. Far: car, star, jar.

To check a rhyme, say both words aloud. If the ends sound the same, they rhyme.

Words rhyme when their ending sounds are the same, like seas - these and ship - trip; listen to the sound, not the spelling.
