Phrases in a paragraph
Learn what a phrase is, a small group of words.
A phrase is a small group of words that works together. It is not a full sentence. On page 46 of your book, Santoor, you fill a paragraph with seven phrases.
The paragraph is about a man who goes out on a snowy winter morning. As he steps out of his home, he sees snow all over the place. On the way to his shop he comes across a small puppy with a hurt leg. The puppy is about to fall down and cannot stand upright. So he takes it home to look after it, and with good care its pain goes away.
Here is what each phrase means. 'Stepped out' means went outside. 'All over' means everywhere. 'Came across' means met or found by chance. 'About to' means going to happen very soon.
'Stand upright' means stand up straight. 'Look after' means take care of. 'Went away' means left, or stopped being there.
