The Frog
And, but, because
Learn how to use the joining words and, but and because.
Joining words link two parts of a sentence. On page 57 of your book, Santoor, you choose between two joining words for each sentence about the frog.
'And' adds one more thing that goes with the first. The frog's colours match the plants and trees. The frog lives on land and in water.
'But' shows a change, something that goes against what came before. The frog hops around happily, but it must watch out for snakes. Hopping happily is good; the snakes are a worry.
'Because' gives a reason: it answers 'why?'. Frogs swim easily because they have webbed feet. Why do they swim easily? Because of their webbed feet.
