Open your book, Santoor, at page 55 and read the poem 'The Frog'. Read it aloud, or ask someone to read it with you. In this poem, the frog itself is speaking and telling us about its life.
Here is what the poem tells, in short. The frog sits in ponds and in the rain, and hops about in muddy drains. When it was little, it was a tadpole: a tiny thing that looked like a fish and swam about happily.
The frog catches its food by flicking out its tongue, very fast. It lives both on land and in water, in damp places wet with drops of dew. Its colours match the plants and trees, so it can hide well in the grass and leaves.
But the frog must beware of snakes, or they will catch it when it is not looking. It croaks its songs very loudly and feels proud in its pond. It hops about and jumps very high. And because it has webbed feet, it swims easily.
