The Wise Parrot
Birds by name
Learn the names of ten birds.
On page 52 of your book, Santoor, there are pictures of ten birds with their names. Here is each bird described in words, so you can know it by name.
The parrot is green, with a curved red beak, and some parrots can copy words, like the parrot in the story. The macaw is a large parrot with very bright feathers of red, blue and yellow. The sparrow is a small brown bird that hops about near our homes. The crow is black and calls 'caw, caw'. The pigeon is grey and coos softly.
The seagull is a white and grey bird that lives near the sea. The flamingo is a pink bird with very long legs, and it often stands on one leg in the water. The ostrich is the biggest bird of all; it cannot fly, but it can run very fast.
Two birds are named after the way they make their nests. The weaver bird weaves a hanging nest out of strips of grass. The tailor bird stitches leaves together to make its nest, like a tailor stitching cloth.
