What a Tank!
Exclamations
Learn sentences that show strong feelings.
Some sentences show a strong feeling. They are called exclamatory sentences. Your book, Santoor, gives three on page 69: 'That's so creative!', a sentence about a boy who saw a rooster, a tractor and a giant football all made of cement, and 'Hurrah! India has won the match.'
You can spot an exclamatory sentence in two ways. It ends with an exclamation mark (!). And it often has a word of feeling, like Wow, Hurrah or Oh.
Each exclamatory sentence shows a feeling. 'That's so creative!' shows amazement, or wonder: someone is amazed by the tanks. 'Hurrah! India has won the match.' shows joy. 'Wow! What a tall tank!' shows surprise and wonder.
A telling sentence, like 'The tank is on the roof.', just gives a fact. It ends with a full stop, not an exclamation mark.
