Measurement and Evaluation
Test, measurement, evaluation and strength tests
Explain TME and perform the strength tests.
A test is a tool to collect information (a unit test, a fitness test). Measurement is the score or data it gives, quantitative, qualitative or both. Evaluation interprets the data to judge value or worth; it may be formative or summative.
TME helps with achievement, diagnosis, prescription, improvement, classification, grading, motivation and prediction of performance.
Push-up test (upper body): straight plank, hands shoulder-width, lower until the elbows reach 90 degrees, push up; count correct push-ups in the set time or rate.
Abdominal curl test (abdominal muscles): lie supine, knees bent, fingers interlocked behind the head; curl up and down repeatedly; count for the set time.
Squat thrust (lower body): stand, squat with palms down, thrust the legs back to plank, return to standing; count in one minute. Strength can also be measured with a dynamometer or tensiometer.
