Views of solids
Draw solid shapes as they look from different sides.
In your book, Maths Mela (Chapter 2), Jagat and Rani draw solids from two sides each. Can you tell which solid each pair of drawings shows?
First pair: the side view is a square and the front view is a square. A cube has 6 square faces, so from the front, the side or the top it always looks like a square. This pair is a cube.
Second pair: the top view is a triangle and the front view is a rectangle. This is a triangular prism standing up on one of its triangle ends. From above, you see the triangle end on top. From the front, you see one of its rectangle faces.
Third pair: the front view is a triangle, and the top view is a triangle with three lines going from its corners to meet in the middle. This is a triangular pyramid. From the front you see one of its sloping triangle faces. From the top you look down on its point: the three sloping faces meet there, so you see three lines meeting in the middle.
