Birds and their features

Look closely at birds and their features.

In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 3), Sarthak sees a bird sitting on a tree nearby. It has a long tail and a large curved beak. 'That is a hornbill,' says Abha Didi.

A hornbill has a growth on its forehead that looks like a horn. That is why it is called a hornbill.

Birds have different features. The peacock is very colourful. The owl has sharp eyesight, which helps it see at night.

You may know some other common birds too: the parrot, which loves fruit; the sparrow, a small brown bird often seen near our homes; the duck, which swims in ponds; and the eagle, which flies high and hunts for its food.

Each bird has its own features: the hornbill's horn-like growth, the peacock's bright colours and the owl's sharp eyesight at night.
