Our School — A Happy Place
A green school
Walk to school with Aasha and Mohit and find out what makes a green school.
In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 4), Aasha and Mohit are walking to school together. Aasha asks Mohit if he likes going to school. Mohit smiles and says he loves it: it is where he sees his friends, plays games and learns new things every day. School is his happy place.
Aasha says she wants to make their school a green school. 'What is a green school?' asks Mohit. Aasha explains what her brother once told her: a green school is a school where we manage our waste, save water, use electricity carefully, and make the campus green by planting more trees and taking care of them.
The whole class becomes curious. Can they make their school a green school too? Their teacher, Anupam, asks them how they will begin.
Aasha has an idea: let us take a closer look at our school and decide what we can do to make it a happy, safe and green school. Your book asks you to do the same: walk around your school and draw a map of it.
