Rhythms of Nature
Seasons
Learn about the seasons and how they change.
In your book, Our Wondrous World (Chapter 9), Saba and Aparna sit in the school garden looking at their Seasons' Journal. All year, they have watched the world around them and written down what they saw.
The class then puts everyone's notes on one big chart. They look at how five things changed over the year: plant life; birds and animals; air, heat and light; water and water bodies; and what people do.
They find that nature changes slowly over the year. The weather warms up, gets hot, and then it rains. Then it gets cooler, before warming up again. Plants, animals, water and people's activities all change with it.
Did the same things happen last year? Will they happen again next year? Yes! These changes follow a pattern, a natural rhythm that repeats itself every year. This repeating pattern in nature is called the seasons.
