The Swing
w and v
Practise the different sounds of w and v.
The sounds 'w' and 'v' are different. On page 107 of your book, Santoor, you practise them.
To say 'w', make your lips round, like the letter O, and then open them. Try the tongue twister in your book: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck? Every 'w' needs round lips.
To say 'v', put your top teeth gently on your bottom lip and let the sound buzz. Try: vvv-vet.
Here are the words from your book. With the 'w' sound: wise, win, wait, wet, white and fewer. With the 'v' sound: fever, valley, vine and vet.
Listen to the pairs: wet and vet. Fewer and fever. They sound close, but they mean different things. Wet means covered in water; a vet is an animal doctor. Fewer means not so many; fever means a high body temperature.
