Learn the seven colours of the rainbow, in their order.
A rainbow has seven colours, and they always come in the same order. Your book, Santoor, gives an easy way to remember them: the word VIBGYOR.
Each letter of VIBGYOR is the first letter of a colour. V is violet, I is indigo, B is blue, G is green, Y is yellow, O is orange and R is red. In this order: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red.
Indigo is a deep, dark blue. Violet is a purple colour.
How is a rainbow made? The box on page 37 tells us. When sunlight passes through tiny drops of rain, it splits into these seven beautiful colours, and a rainbow forms in the sky. That is why we see rainbows when the sun shines during or just after rain.
