The Decision of the Panchayat
Story order
Put the events of a story in the right order.
On page 97 of your book, Santoor, the five events of a short story about a boy called Sam are mixed up. Your job is to put them in the right order: what happened first, next, and last.
Here is the story in the right order. First, Sam decided to go for a walk in the forest near his house. Second, he walked along a narrow path, listening to birds chirping and leaves rustling. Third, he sat by a small stream to rest and enjoy the peaceful sound of the water. Fourth, after resting, he went on with his walk, feeling fresh again. Last, Sam felt grateful for the time he had spent in nature.
How do we find the order? Look for clue words. 'Decided to go' must come at the very start, before any walking. 'After resting' tells us this comes after the rest by the stream. Feeling grateful for the time he had spent is a feeling at the end, when the walk is over.
Also think about what makes sense: Sam cannot rest by the stream before he has started walking.
