The Decision of the Panchayat
Adding -less
Learn how adding -less to a word changes its meaning.
Letters added at the end of a word are called a suffix. On page 100 of your book, Santoor, you add the suffix -less to make new words.
The suffix -less means 'without'. Use + less = useless: without any use. Care + less = careless: without care, not careful. Hope + less = hopeless: without hope. Fear + less = fearless: without fear, very brave. Colour + less = colourless: without colour, like clean water.
Your book begins with a special sentence: 'Water is priceless.' Priceless does NOT mean that water is worth nothing. It means water is so valuable that you cannot put a price on it. Nothing could be enough to pay for it.
When you add -less, keep the whole first word and just add the four letters at the end: care becomes careless, fear becomes fearless.
