The Decision of the Panchayat
Sri Ramakrishna
Listen to a passage about Sri Ramakrishna.
On page 101 of your book, Santoor, your teacher reads aloud a passage about a real person, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Here is what it tells, in short.
Long ago, in a small village in West Bengal, there lived a kind and wise man named Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He loved to talk to people about God. He taught that all religions are like rivers: they may take different paths, but they all reach the same ocean.
He lived a simple life. He wore plain clothes and ate very little. But his smile and his loving words made everyone around him feel special.
One day a curious young boy named Naren came to meet him. Ramakrishna saw something special in the boy and became his teacher. He taught Naren about courage and kindness, and how to find peace inside himself.
Naren grew up to become the famous Swami Vivekananda, and he spread his teacher's wisdom all over the world. Ramakrishna's teachings still inspire many people today.
