सृजनात्मकता और लेखन / Creativity and Writing
What is creativity? Forms of creativity
Introduce the English half's idea of creativity and its forms.
The English half opens with sayings on creativity: Rollo May (turning new ideas into reality), Shakespeare (the poet gives 'airy nothing a local habitation and a name') and Maya Angelou (you cannot use up creativity).
Life is a continuous process of creation; nature renews itself every moment and inspires us — Thoreau called the world 'a canvas to the imagination'.
Creativity is an umbrella term: a potter shapes clay, a sculptor stone, a dancer moments of life, a writer words. Benode Behari Mukherjee went on painting murals even after losing his sight.
Art forms grow together: Mahadevi Verma wrote and painted; D. G. Rossetti painted 'The Blessed Damozel' and then wrote it as a poem; William Blake combined poetry, painting and engraving ('The Tyger').
Everyday creativity: arranging flowers, needlework, decorating a room. Besides newness and originality, creative work must be appropriate to its context, which needs training and nurturing.
